Andy

Standish Property Maintenance was established in 2011

Working for a friend installing Solar PV Panels, I saw a gap in the market and took a chance. With advice and help from family and friends, I expanded the business, offering garden maintenance as one of the many jobs he could do.

Training

I sought professional training with Myerscough College and Green Thumb Wolverhampton. Over a mug of tea and a conversation, the course was set to add Pest Control to the business. Training with Killgerm Chemicals saw me qualified to safely handle pesticides and treat insects and vertebrates.  Calling on rifle skills I learned in the military I added bird control to my skill set.

Military career

After a 15-year career in the armed forces, I’d reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. Finishing my service by training officer cadets with the Royal Military Acadamy Sandhurst Training Group. Serving overseas in Germany, and Cyprus, seeing combat in Afghanistan. I was awarded the Volunteer Reserve Service Medal (VRSM) for my years of long service and good conduct. “The experience I have gained in the armed forces has been invaluable to the success of Standish Property Maintenance & Pest Control”.

Family time

My hobbies and interests revolve around family and the outdoors. I have three children all of which contribute in some way to the business. I started diving with my wife, Ali, in 2016. Now qualified as a BSAC Advanced Diver, Open Water Instructor and Military Supervisor. Andy has progressed into the world of technical diving. Twinset, Sidemount and Closed Circuit Rebreather diving. Making a second career in the diving industry is a dream I’m working towards.

Recreation

Mountain biking, surfing and climbing are some of my many interests. But when I’m not out and about I love a brew and tinkering in the garage with a project. Such projects include VW Caddy from 1983, VW Beetle 1962, Pantha Caravan 1972, his house and many more.
